Just in time for holiday baking, here’s a post dedicated to the most popular cookie recipes ever. We’ve featured a lot of cookies in the past fourteen years. We have entire Hampton Classic posts with nothing but cookies, bars, and brownies. You can use the search function and find all of those. Here we’ve collected 10 recipes that top all others on the blog. Two of them are even gluten-free! We have so many great bakers to thank for these recipes. Some of you may know them on a first-name basis.

Dorie Greenspan falls into that category. Joanne Chang of Boston’s Flour Bakery and Café is famous for re-creating famous treats for home bakers. Matt Lewis and Renato Poliofito have built a “Baked” empire with recipes like numbers 6 and 10 on the popularity scale. And some names will be entirely unfamiliar to you. However, you’re not likely to forget the name Kate Davis whose #1 Recipe for Brown Butter and Toffee Chocolate Chip cookies was discovered by Matt Martinez in Bon Appetit magazine. My British cousin and his Austrian wife sent me 3 authentic Austrian cookie recipes which still occupy the #18 most popular recipes of any kind on Chewing the Fat—quite an accomplishment since we’re up to well over 1000 of them! Finally, a Nigerian-American pastry chef named Yewande Komolate provided one of the two Gluten-Free cookie recipes in this post. Her Chewy Almond Macaroons are sensational.
