The Meatpacking District’s New Pizzaria Is Just 90 Seconds from Napoli
Simone Falco, whose two Rossopomodoro locations in the West Village and Eataly have taken New York by storm, has just re-invented the Pizzaria. Located at 90-92 Gansevoort Street, Falco, a native of Napoli, brings genuine Neopolitan Pizza to this surprisingly affordable eatery.
The concept is deceptively simple. And oh so Italian. Everything from the pies to the three salads to the the beer, wine, waters and soft drinks are Italianissimo. Pizza lovers select from a menu of six single serving pies ranging from the Classic Margherita (said to be the Mother of all Pizzas) to Diavolo and Cacio e Pepe and 3 side salads. The order is taken and diners are given a numbered Pepper Mill filled with Red Chili Flakes. (It’s a cashless system using Credit or Debit cards only) The communal tables await. Or if you want to enjoy the fun, you can follow your pizza as it is formed and then loaded with super fresh and all-Italian ingredients. Into the oven and, in the promised 90 seconds, a pizza emerges that rivals the best in Naples.
There’s full table service, Peroni beer, Italian red and white wines –even a glass of Prosecco on offer, all surprisingly affordable. And you have to love a place where the pizza ranges in price from 8.70 to 10.80. The salads cater to Vegans, Vegetarians and even those who like to go Gluten-Free. They’re priced from 7.20 to 8.70.
With its location directly across from both The Whitney and the High Line, long lines are sure to start forming outside Simò too. Plans are afoot to expand Simò to both Chelsea and Brooklyn. But for now, head to the Meatpacking District for a Pizza experience that’s truly 90 seconds from Napoli.
SIMÒ Pizza will be open 11 AM – 11 PM daily and will be available for delivery only on Caviar. For more information on catering and SIMÒ Pizza details, please visit simopizza.com or call 212-462-2703.
